Dataspelsförsäljningen trotsar konjunkturen och överträffar prognosen
Stockholm 2008-10-02 Den positiva trenden för dataspel fortsätter och överträffar branschens prognoser. Under årets första halvår såldes det närmare 2,9 miljoner spel till ett värde av drygt en miljard kronor i konsumentled.
Spelförsäljningen första halvåret 2008 ökade med 13 procent i antal och 52 procent i värde jämfört med samma period under 2007.
– Trots en del svårigheter att under det första halvåret möta efterfrågan på spelkonsoler så kan vi nu konstatera att antalet Xbox 360, Playstation 3 och Wii ute i svenska hem har tagit ett ordentligt kliv framåt. Detta har i sin tur bidragit till en stark tillväxt av spelförsäljningen, säger Johan Mannerhill, ordförande för branschföreningen MDTS, som tillsammans med Spelplan-ASGD utgör Dataspelsbranschen.
Trots uppgång för de nyare konsolerna så står sig Playstation 2 fortfarande stark med sina åtta år på marknaden. Med ett annat spelutbud tilltalar den andra typer av konsumenter som yngre förstagångsspelare i familjen eller nyblivna spelare som är ute efter socialt spelande med musik- eller partyspel. Formatet minskar marginellt i volym, men tappar i värdet, vilket tyder på att spelen till Playstation 2 blivit billigare.
Bland första halvårets mest sålda spel 2008 syntes bl.a. Grand Theft Auto 4, Guitar Hero 3 Legends of Rock, Age of Conan, Mario Kart Wii samt Singstar Svenska hits schlager.
– Prognosen för 2008 är en tillväxt på 10 procent och halvvägs in på året kan vi konstatera att detta lär vida överträffas. Med alla spännande spel som kommer att släppas nu under andra halvåret ser vi med förväntan fram emot vilka helårssiffror detta kommer att resultera i, avslutar Johan Mannerhill.
Försäljningen gäller fysiska produkter. Digital distribution är på framfart, men fortfarande förhållandevis svårt att mäta eftersom aktörer på vitt skiljda geografiska platser bedriver försäljning via Internet till svenska konsumenter. Detta är något som kan påverka i synnerhet PC negativt eftersom den minskade spelförsäljningen på formatet kan i stor utsträckning bestå av konsumenter som väljer att använda sig av digital distribution. Dataspelsbranschen arbetar med att integrera digital distribution i statstiken under 2009.
